Ben sharpened both blades on the Edge Pro a sharpening system he designed and sells. The edges were set with the 320 grit stone, refined on the 600 and then polished with the 1000 and finished on the 3000 grit tape. Total time was 12 minutes per blade.
One blade was set at 12 degrees and the other at 15. The results for the 12 degree blade are reported in the main contest webpage. The 15 degree blade was very close at 72.5 (4.5) and 60.4 (3.8) on the thread and cotton respectively and nearly identical in the hair and paper cutting.
Both blades could whittle hair easily, slice newsprint trivially, push cut newprint well, slice the paper towel and almost make a push cut, with just a hint of a draw the blade could start to push cut, slices could be made on toilet paper but push cuts were not possible.
