This M2 mini-AFCK was previously owned by Steve Harvey. It opens smoothly, and can also be snapped open. Closing one handed is a bit awkward because its a bit small. The lockup is secure, resists spine impacts and white knuckling. The blade has no play when open nor does it exhibit any significant movement while torquing on the handle. The clip sticks out over the finger grip in the handle but a Dremel and a sanding drum fixed that nicely.
It was compared to a Spyderco Endura in AUS-8 stainless steel. Both are combo edges though the plain edge sections were the most significantly used. Over 2 weeks they were used to cut cardboard, ropes, heavy plastic fencing, rubber tubing heavy/light and Fiberglas insulation. Both were initialy polished up to a 1200 grit DMT finish and steeled frequently. The M2 knife was consistently ahead in terms of sharpness measured by arm hair shaving, cutting a ripe tomato, how well it would grip the thumb nail . The mini-AFCK was also not significantly harder to sharpen, if anything it was easier as it didn't tend to burr as much as the Endura.
In regards to toughness, the mini-AFCK was thrust into woods, twisted, and lightly leveraged to side and used to draw heavy staples. There were no sign of rust with no oil or protectant used. Some work comparing the mini-AFCK to a few other knives can be seen in the following webpage :
UPDATE : This was one of the earliest reviews and is
pretty much all subjective. The mini-AFCK was sold shortly after this review
was written mainly due to ergonomic issues.
