Introduction and Specifications

Those are not typo's, the blade stock is very thin and it weighs very little.

This is very narrow like a short carving knife, or large utility knife. It can be the work horse of the kitchen or the forgotten step brother depending on what is done.

This was a heavily used knife :

The edge was reset to :

This took 1200 dps with the fine side of a fine benchstone. The edge doesn't form perfectly clean due to the low consistency / quality of the abrasive but due to the high quality of the steel it was still very sharp at that finish :

The initial sharpness was measured at :

Stock cutting

Off of the 6 micron DMT stone the sharpness was measured at :

This edge is optimized for aggression as even though the DMT has a very low micron rating, it produces a much higher scratch pattern due to the irregular nature of the grit. This is also evident on the rope cutting.

On 3/8" hemp :

Note the huge drop in force on the slicing showing the very high aggression on a draw. This very low force on the draw is only possible with a very thin and low angle edge which is also very sharp .

On carving wood compared to the #1260 Mora on some 1" hardwood dowel with light force (10-30 lbs) :

The cKc is slightly behind just due to the difference in edge polish as the Mora makes a slightly finer cut because it has a 8000 grit finish (waterstone).

On some 1x0.5" pine making 2" points with heavy force (50-70 lbs) :

Both of the easily slice right through the wood in one cut.

Sharpening

As the steel is not a high alloy carbide blade it grinds well even on basic stones and the :

means it burrs only minimally and in general takes a very high sharpness very easily.

Edge Retention

As the only knife used in the kitchen, it was brought into rotation on Jan. 27 / 2013 and lasted XX weeks before it had to be sharpened.

On Cardboard it performs as a high Class II type steel as expected :
